Below is a list of some of my favorite applications which can be downloaded and installed on the HD2 from T-Mobile. They are free unless otherwise noted.
WIFI Remote Access
Browse Your Phone From Your Computer
WiFi Remote Access allows you to connect and use some of the features of your phone FROM your computer. You connect your phone and computer to the same wireless WIFI network. Then, in your web browser on your computer, you type in the IP number which is given to you by the WIFI Remote Access software. You can then browse and edit your files on your phone, and even read or send text messages right from your computer. You can also listen to music, view photos, upload or download files and more. Also works with an USB cable if ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center is installed. Includes a registry editor for advanced users (hidden by default).
Features:
- Exchange files between your Windows Phone and a computer running Windows, Linux, OSX
- Browse photos taken with your Windows Phone from within your web browser
- Listen to music stored on your Windows Phone from the web interface (IE only)
- No software installation required on the computer. You just need a web browser
- Works through a WIFI connection, which is great if you don’t always have an USB sync cable near you
This software can be downloaded only from Windows Marketplace which is located on your HD2 and at the link above. The free version is available to use and the pay version is only $7.99 one time fee. I highly recommend this program!
G Alarm
If the existing alarm clock does not suit you, and the alarm included in WinMo 6.5 hardly suits me, then download G-Alarm. It is a G-sensor and light sensor enabled alarm clock which means you can flip the phone face down for snooze and shake the phone to turn off the alarm. It even uses the light sensor and will turn off when a light comes on in the room.
This alarm is highly configurable including the ability to add multiple (random) alarm tones or songs to wake up to. You can even change the included skin. Have a schedule that changes during the week like me? G-Alarm allows you to set multiple alarms to ring at certain times on certain days.
This is a very nice alarm and I highly recommend it to replace your current alarm. You will not be dissatisfied.

Metal Detector
The built-in compass uses the Earth’s magnetic field to calculate the deviation from magnetic north. As with every compass, if you put a piece of metal nearby, it gets deviated. That’s what the author uses here to detect metal. It seems to work well and allows you to adjust sensitivity.
I’m not sure if you will be able to find any hidden treasure with this, but you may impress your friends by displaying the capabilities of the Windows Mobile based HD2 from HTC.

KeyPad LED Control
The HTC HD turns the key pad lights (the hard keys at the bottom, front of the device) off after about 10 seconds and they only come on when you touch them again. This is somewhat inconvenient when you are in the dark.
KeyPad LED Control is a tweak which will cause the key pad keys to light up continually anytime the screen is also lit up.

WIFI Router
Though the European models of the HD2 included the WIFI Router software preinstalled, T-Mobile did not included it on their version of the HD2. But now you can turn your HTC HD2 into a wifi router simply by downloading and installing this .cab file unto your phone. This allows you to connect your lap top or pc to your phone and use the 3G or EDGE connection to surf the web. It works very well and includes password protected WEP security.
This is the app that made me fall in love with the HD2.
